Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
Age Concern Spelthorne and Age Concern Runnymede have jointly been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the ‘MBE for volunteer groups’.
The Queen’s Award is for voluntary groups that:
- Provide a service and meet a need for people living in the local community
- Is supported, recognised and respected by the local community and the people who benefit from it
- Is run locally
Suzanne Harrison from Runnymede Borough Council nominated Age Concern Spelthorne and Runnymede for our partnership work with Ashford & St Peter’s Hospital to improve referrals for information and services for patients being discharged from hospital and for pioneering a care pathway for stroke patients to prevent fuel poverty and returning to a cold home.
