Age Concern Spelthorne is an independently constituted charity that has been working with older people in Spelthorne since 1996. It is also a member of Age Concern, the federation.

The federation enables Age Concern organisations and groups throughout the country to work together for the welfare of older people.

Our vision is 'Dedicated to improving the quality of life of all older people throughout Spelthorne'.

Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

Age Concern Spelthorne and Age Concern Runnymede have jointly been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the ‘MBE for volunteer groups’.

The Queen’s Award is for voluntary groups that:

  • Provide a service and meet a need for people living in the local community
  • Is supported, recognised and respected by the local community and the people who benefit from it
  • Is run locally

Suzanne Harrison from Runnymede Borough Council nominated Age Concern Spelthorne and Runnymede for our partnership work with Ashford & St Peter’s Hospital to improve referrals for information and services for patients being discharged from hospital and for pioneering a care pathway for stroke patients to prevent fuel poverty and returning to a cold home.

Fit From 50

Fit From 50 Programme

Age Concern Spelthorne continues to offer a fitness programme in Spelthorne, 'Fit From 50'. The programme is designed for men and women between the ages of 50 and 65 and is funded by The Big Lottery Fund "Awards For All" and is being held at Thamesmead School Sports Centre.
